Privacy Policy

Ateroo Logistics is committed to protecting the privacy of every visitor of ateroo.com and every user of the Ateroo mobile application. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who has access to it and the rights you can exercise over your data at any time.

1. Data controller

The entity responsible for processing your personal data is Ateroo Logistics, registered in Antananarivo, Madagascar. For any privacy-related request you can reach us at contact@ateroo.com.

2. Our guiding principles

Our handling of personal data is driven by five principles that frame every processing operation across our systems :

  • Legitimacy. We only collect data that is necessary for the service we provide.
  • Transparency. We tell you up-front why your data is collected, who can access it and for how long it is retained.
  • Right of access. You can review, correct or delete your personal data at any time.
  • Confidentiality, integrity, security. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data against loss or unauthorised access.
  • Appropriate retention. Your data is kept only for the time strictly required for the purpose it was collected for.

3. When we collect your data

We collect your personal data when you :

  • create an account on our website or in the Ateroo mobile app ;
  • send a parcel, schedule a pickup or request a quote ;
  • subscribe to one of our newsletters ;
  • contact our team via the contact form, by email or by phone.

4. What data we collect

Depending on the service you use, the data we collect falls into the following categories :

  • Identity. Last name, first name, email address, phone number and — for business customers — company name.
  • Shipment data. Sender and recipient details, pickup and delivery addresses, parcel description, weight and size.
  • Payment data. Amounts billed and cash-on-delivery records. We do not store full payment-card numbers ; card processing is handled by certified third-party providers.
  • Technical data. Device, browser, IP address and pages visited, used to keep the service stable and to fight fraud.

5. Excluded categories

We never collect or process so-called « special » categories of data : racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, genetic data, biometric data used to uniquely identify a person, health data, or data relating to sexual orientation.

6. Who receives your data

Your data is processed by Ateroo Logistics teams in charge of operating the delivery service. We share strictly necessary data with a limited number of trusted partners — couriers, relay points, payment processors and SMS / email service providers — only to the extent required to deliver your parcel and keep you informed of its status. Your data is never sold and is never used for advertising purposes unrelated to our service.

7. Your rights and how to exercise them

You have the right to access, correct, restrict or delete your personal data, as well as to object to its processing or to ask for it to be transferred to another provider. To exercise any of these rights please email contact@ateroo.com. We answer every legitimate request within one month. Requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive — in particular by their repetitive nature — may be declined or charged a reasonable fee.

8. Policy regarding minors

Our service is not directed at children under 15. If we become aware that personal data of a minor under 15 has been collected without verifiable parental consent, we commit to deleting that data from our systems as soon as reasonably possible.

9. Data after death

You may at any time send us your instructions regarding the storage, deletion or sharing of your personal data after your death. These instructions must be sent to contact@ateroo.com. In the absence of such instructions your heirs may make a request to us in writing, accompanied by a proof of their right to act.

10. Retention period

Prospect and customer data is kept for three years from collection or from the last meaningful contact between you and us. After that period we may reach out to confirm your interest in continuing to receive our communications ; if you do not respond your data is either deleted or archived in line with the applicable regulations on accounting, tax and other legal obligations.
